Did you know that Billings School District 2 has identified more than 200 homeless youth enrolled in the current 2021 - 2022 school year?
As of October 2021, School District 2 has identified more than 200 homeless youth enrolled in the school district. As changes happen within the lives of families, so will this number change throughout the school year. Since 2013, the final accumulated numbers of homeless youth enrolled each year in School District 2 has been between 500 and 700.
OPERATION: Billings Child is a local holiday gift program where, in years past, we have collected filled shoeboxes and gift bags.
However, because of COVID-19, both OPERATION: Billings Child and School District 2 have narrowed down what is being requested to the most needed items identified by School District 2.
This year, we will be collecting ONLY new and/or gently used WATERPROOF winter gloves and mittens and gift cards for food.
The need identified by School District 2 is for WATERPROOF winter gloves and mittens for elementary and middle school age children only, please. Billings Public Schools is fully stocked on knit gloves and mittens, but is in great need of WATERPROOF winter gloves and mittens for the younger children.
Thank you for helping us meet this need in our community!
The goal is to collect 300 pairs of WATERPROOF winter gloves and mittens for students identified by School District 2 as homeless or at risk.
Collection dates for these items are December 1st - December 17th.
The WATERPROOF gloves and mittens will be distributed the week of December 20, 2021 by School District 2.
Please join OPERATION: Billings Child and learn what a difference you can make!
